War Time Thanksgiving Finds Many Away From Home
Bristol marks a wartime Thanksgiving with about 1500 residents in service or training, leaving many empty chairs as families cope with scarce turkeys and a day of services, dances, reunions, and community charity. Local churches plan masses and special services, while a Colt football game against Barrington and a Hi Y Club dance fill the day. Several factories close or cut hours, and Ivy Guild prepares fruit baskets and funds for needy families.
