Town Council approves drain project and land transfers

The council accepted Herreshoff Manufacturing Co plan to build a drain at Foot of Burnside Street, sharing half the cost. It granted a land transfer on Mount Hope Avenue and deferred Domenico Romano's request for a 175 Bradford Street victualing license to the next meeting.

Bristol Mothers Club Monthly Meeting at Colt Memorial

The Bristol Mothers Club held its regular meeting at Colt Memorial High School. Officers were elected and committees formed including Entertainment, Refreshments, Membership, and Meetings in School Buildings. An immigration talk by Morris J Wessel followed a music program by Mrs O Donnell and Miss Ada Connery.

British Relief Society to Meet Next Tuesday Evening

The committee in charge of British Relief work will meet in the YMCA rooms next Tuesday at 8 pm, postponed from last Tuesday. A report on last season's work will be given and plans for the future discussed. All interested are urged to attend.

Y M C A Booster Campaign Aims To Raise Bristol Membership

Bristol Y M C A launches Booster Week to lift membership to 250 with seven captains teams meeting at Rockwell Hall and a banquet finale. State Secretary R M Armstrong spoke Tuesday night and a two point credit per man member is awarded. The slogan Boom the Y M C A and you Boom Bristol guides renewals and new memberships.

A special patriotic military and musical service will be held Sunday at 7 30 pm at State Street M E Church. Mite Society Elects Barrett President for Ninth Year

Mrs Arthur W Barrett was reelected president of the Mite Society of the First Baptist Church for the ninth consecutive year at the annual officers election held Tuesday evening at the Lawton home on Noyes avenue. The meeting heard reports from officers and committees and remarks from Mrs Barrett the church pastor Irving T Gumb and Col Arthur W Barrett. New officers include President Mrs Arthur W Barrett Vice President Mrs Edward Harper Secretary Mrs Henry Buffum Treasurer Mrs Walter Lawton Work Committee Chairman Mrs Thomas Manchester Visitation of Sick and Flower Committee Mrs A W Barrett and Mrs Mary Peck. A collation followed.
