The Town Council votes to call a Special Town Meeting to consider funds for officers hired during the recent strike and for the infantile paralysis quarantine repairs. It also approves moving the Thresher house site, reviews the Sinking Fund, and schedules a canvassers’ meeting for November 27 to inspect voter lists.
Mrs Adeeb Faris of Providence wife of a Damascus born Syrian rug dealer speaks next Tuesday at 8 in St Michael's Chapel. She travels with her three daughters in native Syrian costumes and cites firsthand letters from her brother detained in Syria amid the war. The talk covers Mt Lebanon’s neglected relief and the plight of Syrians, under Ivy Guild auspices in Bristol.
W J Golden of Muskegon formerly and locally of this town has resigned as factory superintendent of the Vulcanized Products Company and accepted the same role with A A Rubber Company in Framingham Massachusetts. A farewell party at his home 228 Terrace street featured gifts and best wishes from friends and former employees.

Chief Thomas Dwyer, under town council order, moved two night officers Henry Serbst and Everett L'B Church to day duty. Four special constables Otis Wood Charles H Bickford George E Magee and William A Tucker continue on duty temporarily assigned to night shift. With Capt James W Goff and Officers Hugh F Kelley and Richard Contury the force totals 10: seven on nights and three on days.
The first Pilgrim service of the series will be held Sunday at 7 30 p m in Memorial Chapel. The pastor will speak on The Pilgrims in England and Holland and special music will be provided by Mrs Frank Dimond and Mr Mrs F M Dimond who lead the musical portion of the program.
District Deputy Mrs Hollingsworth and board visited Reba Rebekah Lodge No 12 I O O F last night. Mrs John H Bailey welcomed guests as a large crowd attended. The program featured piano solos by Miss Elsie McCaw, speeches, and the farce Sister Masons. Members Cora Hill Marion Coggeshall Helen Potter Maud Holton Margaret Kenney Mabel Manchester Elizabeth Balfour Nellie Sylver Hannah Sylver and Mathew Cahoon participated as the cast. Refreshments and games followed.
Capt Albert C Davis and Miss Nora L Byrnes married at St Marys rectory yesterday at 4 pm. Rev Thomas J Gillan performed the ceremony. Bridesmaid Nora Mahoney and best man Charlie Davis attended. The couple honeymooned on the Fall River steamer to New York and will live at 260 Hope Street.
Sub chairmen report steady progress for Y M C A recruiting with captains named including Dimond Teller Kenney Barrett Bailey Bottomley Clark Pailthorpe and Birtwistle. Each plans to recruit 11 more members for 200 total, with H E Stoll arriving to finish organizing. Bristol workers show enthusiasm and expect strong returns from the campaign.
Women voted for President in twelve states and for a congressional delegate in Alaska. Illinois reports 800000 women voters and Kansas 250000 with Utah sending 40000 despite a snow storm. Three Utah women likely join the legislature from Salt Lake City. New York saw 3000 polling workers and 5000 attend a suffrage ball at Grand Central Palace. Jeannette Rankin elected Montana’s congresswoman on the Republican ticket, the first woman in Congress, advocating National woman suffrage child welfare tariff revision and prohibition.
The State Returning Board increased William L. Connery’s total by four votes, declaring him elected State Senator from Bristol by 12 rather than 8. Adjustments occurred in the First District with Connery gaining three votes and MacDougall losing one.
