Mitena 12-Meter Enter Great Lakes Racing Debut
A group of six Grand Rapids men have bought Mitena, a 12-meter sloop built by Nathanael Herreshoff, to race on the Great Lakes. The ship, now based at Macatawa, could challenge the Chicago Mackinac speed record with favorable winds. Crew plans include 12 to 13 sailors for lake races while maintaining a core six for duties and training.
