Diving Boards Proposed for Kunz Pier Improvements

A Bristol recreation report by Attilio A Pansa urges two diving floats for advanced and intermediate swimmers at Kunz Pier and adds a diving board at the end of the pier plus showers drinking fountain shade canopy and improved lighting. The season saw about 300 bathers mostly youths with 87 swimmers in five divisions and instruction given to many younger children.

DAR Bridge event at Bristol Chapter House Friday

Bristol Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held a Friday event at the Chapel Home. Awards announced by Mrs John Brechin Jr. listed several winners and guests including Mrs Mabel Salisbury Miss Charlotte Young and Mrs Arthur Easton amid door prize winners and planning help from Mrs Brechin.

St Marys to honor Bristol war dead on Armistice Day

Armistice Day services at St Marys Church Bristol sponsored by Bristol Council Knights of Columbus will feature Rev Cyprian Truss Capuchin Friary Providence as guest preacher. Solemn High Mass at 9 am with Father Truss celebrant and city officials veterans scouts invited. Truss noted RAF pilot veteran author and radio speaker.

American Education Week Highlights School Visits

This week marks American Education Week with Bristol parents and others visiting local schools to sit in on classes and observe their children’s daily progress. Parents are encouraged to spend time at schools, talk with teachers, and get to know the school environment.

Bristol Groups Plan Santa Concert Drive and Holiday Projects

The Bristol Community Concert Association launches its first annual membership drive with a November 15 dinner at the White Rays Riding Club. Arthur Eastman will preside as officers and volunteers outline artists for Colt Memorial Auditorium season and memberships run through November 20 with hopes of 500 seats. The Bristol Business Civic Association wins city approval for a Santa helicopter landing and lighting at Colt Memorial High School, plus a Christmas tableaux display and flood lighting, while the school committee approves health reimbursements and dental clinic scheduling.
