Double Tragedy In Bristol Family From Trichinosis
Tragedy struck Bristol as two family members died from trichinosis after eating undercooked Portuguese pork sausage. Henry Villeca 54 of Washington DC died at Newport Naval Hospital. his nephew William Simmons 19 of Bristol died at Rhode Island Hospital after transfusions and oxygen therapy. Both victims served in World War II. the Simmons youth was a Navy veteran who saw Pearl Harbor Korea and Tokyo. Funeral services were held and state health authorities investigated the case.
