State election in Bristol hinges on bitter gubernatorial race
Voters head to the Town Hall as polls open at 10 am for a state election seen as one of the most active campaigns in memory. The Newport Rangers defeated the Bristol Y M C A 22 to 9 on the common Saturday afternoon. Johnnie Roach led the invincible Rangers at quarterback as they rolled to four touchdowns, with Bowler adding two goals. Duffy of the Y M C A left with an injury and was replaced by Captain Brightman.

The District Court convened yesterday morning with Judge O L Bosworth presiding. Cases heard include John H Morrissey v Edward Milliken where Milliken was found guilty of discharging an air rifle in town on Aug 30 and fined 15 plus costs. land set at 200 with Henry R Manchester as surety. Assault cases Cresengo Della Morte v Gaetano Espinosa and Gaetano Espinosa v Cresengo Della Morte were discontinued on payment of costs. George Moore was fined 2 for drunkenness. Frank E Smith v Jacob Bassing resulted in a 150 verdict for the plaintiff. Smith claimed 250 for services and Bassing paid another New York attorney. Bassing appealed. John Shepard Co Gompany v Julius U Gallup reinstated. Antonio O Livo v Carmelo Alessandro continued one week. Also notes on a tonic advert and a Brown University athlete attorney.
