Col Colt Expected To Win Rhode Island Governorship

Rhode Island faces a state election seen as one of its most spirited in years with Col Samuel P. Colt favored for governor against Governor Lucius F. C. Garvin. In Bristol, voters also face a tight contest for representative between Dr W Fred Williams and Capt Robert N. Turner as polls open and early turnout promises a large vote.

Newport Y M C A Beats Bristol Y M C A 17 to 0

Newport Y M C A defeated Bristol 17 to 0 on the common in a second season game. Newport, a heavy team, scored two touchdowns and two goals in the second half after Bristol showed plucky defense in the opening period. Key Bristol players included Bradshaw and a ragged but stubborn offense. Referee King and officials named. Also reports a serious ankle injury to Mrs. Sarah McLaughlin from a basement fall and a remedy ad for Chamberlain's Colic Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy from W H Buffington.

Exhibition and sports events at Providence gym

Tomorrow evening Miss May Field Brown will lead an exhibition of the Gilbert system in the Providence gymnasium with twenty lady pupils. The high school basketball team faces a picked lineup led by Tom Brightman. Senior gym classes start Monday, Nov. 9. A Halloween social drew about 80 with games, music, and penny dives. Brown University visitors spoke, and next Sunday Rev Hopkins B. Cady will lecture. Bowling tournament opens tonight with two teams and a prize silver medal for top average. The board approved planeing alleys and buying new balls. Football vs Manville is set for next Saturday with practice Thursday at 7:80.
