Halloween barrier rear end accident injures two on Hope Street

A wooden unlit barrier across Hope Street near Gooding Avenue caused a rear end collision Sunday night. Alphonse Morra 23 and passenger Josephine Rucci 44 were shaken but treated for injuries. Annie Gutowski 32 suffered a sprained thumb and cuts. Investigators Sergi Demars and Frederick Serbst led the inquiry.

Portuguese American Women's Civic League Plans Officers Election

The Portuguese American Women's Civic League met at Mrs. Joseph Almeida's home to set the officer election for Monday December 13. Mrs. Mathew Maetoza and Miss Mary George were named tellers. A New Years Dance was also planned with Miss Mary George as chair of the arrangements committee and a large slate of assistants listed.

Train of Artillery Skips Armistice Day Parade

For the first time in years the Bristol Train of Artillery will not march in the Armistice Day parade. Col A M Merriman M D, commanding officer, cited Armory repair work since last March under state supervision as the reason and noted no completion date.

Halloween Parties Brighten Town With Masks and Pranks

Hallowe en was celebrated with gaiety as residents paraded in grotesque makeup and pranks damaged property. Numerous organizations held parties, including a masquerade dance by the Portuguese American Women’s Civic League and a Junior Assembly Hallowe en party. Prizes were awarded for costumes, and refreshments were served by local hostesses.

Man Hurt in Fall at Local Rubber Plant

Ernest Ducas, employee of Central Engineering Co., fell through a floor at No. 37 building of U S Rubber Co. this morning. He sustained body bruises and a cut behind the ear, received treatment from Dr. Merriman, and was taken home.
