Polls opened at 9 A M in Artillery Armory and Town Hall with bright sun as voters from outlying areas arrive. First voters included John H Duffy in First District and Mrs Benjamin F Lindemuth the first woman to vote in that district. Second District saw Domenico De Cristofaro and daughter Miss Metha De Cristofaro cast the first ballots. Voting sites listed and candidate slate noted for Senator and Representatives with local election officers and party supervisors. Voter lists show 3004 eligible voters with 392 fewer names than two years ago. women voters total 1744. Campaign rallies occurred across Tralan Hall Wood Street, Pastime Theatre, Columbia Hall and Italian Hall with speakers from Republican and Democratic tickets.
The regular monthly meeting of American Legion Auxiliary Kearney Unit No 6 will be held Friday at 8 o'clock. An initiation ceremony will be conducted, followed by a social hour with Kearney Post.
A benefit concert for the Florida Disaster fund will be held Thursday in the Colt Memorial High School auditorium directed by William C Hobbs with Charles M Morgan organizing. The event features Mrs Cora Shaw Anderson at piano, Fred Deitz bass, Earle Hover violin, local soloists Aida Connery and Margaret Hoar, and Judge Edward I. Leahy announcing the program. Tickets are on sale at Buffington's Drug Stores and William H Bell's.
The Armistice Day committee met at the Hotel Belvedere and voted to add a soccer game to the afternoon program between Warren of the Suburban League and a fast Fall River team. Morning parade participants include Troops 1 2 4 and 5 Bristol Boy Scouts and Warren troops. The Town Clerk’s letter notes store reworks may be sold Nov 8 to 11 inclusive. Fire Chief John Grabert ordered out parade apparatus. The group adjourned to finalize the schedule tomorrow night.
A touring car driven by John St Angela of 23 Back Street collided with a New England Transportation Co bus driven by John H Grenel of 208 Waldo Street Providence on Hope Street near Washington Street at 545 PM Sunday. St Angela Jr. sustained cuts to both wrists and was treated by Dr Alfred Merriman. The touring car was badly damaged and towed. the bus was slightly damaged with no passengers aboard.
Richard Sammons Ron Dunbar Floyd Huestis and Eugene Boone four local sportsmen who travel annually to Maine returned Saturday night. They found the outing enjoyable but game was scarce. Dunbar was the only shooter with a small duck. They faced winter weather with temperatures to 18 below zero and about 10 inches of snow.
