Address of Vice Admiral Jacobs at Massachusetts council
Vice Admiral Randall Jacobs, Chief of Naval Personnel, addresses the seventh annual dinner of the Massachusetts Council of Catholics Protestants and Jews in Boston May 1 1944. He praises interfaith harmony in the Navy noting chaplains respect for other faiths, the diverse Navy population of 3 000 000, and clerical cooperation. He highlights wartime worship practices, absence of collections, and a Christmas Eve gesture by Jewish servicemen enabling Catholic and Protestant services. He concludes with a tribute to Frank Knox and the need for unity.
