Several hundred people gathered on the Common Sunday afternoon to watch Bristol Battery C 243rd AAA AW Battalion defend a rail head in a simulated air and ground attack. Hillsgrove's 152nd Fighter Squadron provided low altitude passes while .50 caliber and 40mm guns tracked the approaching aircraft. Ground maneuvers included a mocked capture of Mount Hope Bridge and Newport with a jeep substituting for a half track. Captain Makowsky praised the unit as it transported and positioned four generators and four direction finders, then timed movements from maps to firing positions starting at noon.
