Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children
In 1882 citizens formed the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children to defend child rights and curb inhuman treatment. It evolved into a lasting social agency partnering with public and private groups to prevent neglect and delinquency, prioritizing family-based aid over legal action, and urging support for its annual fund drive starting this coming Monday.
