Selected Advisor For New Charter Named Legal Counsel
Lucien Caponé former town solicitor and opponent of the 1952 charter was named by the charter commission as its legal advisor conditional on availability and funds. The commission had earlier hired the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council and voted to pursue outside counsel to review draft charter for jurisdictional issues and possible curative legislation, with Frank I. Martin proposing Caponé and the board approving the hire pending funds. The group emphasized avoiding past criticism of not hiring counsel and scheduled Monday June 2 for the next continuation.
