Bristol Firemen Plan Second Annual Casino Ball

The Bristol fire department hosts a nine to one ball at the Bristol Casino with over 300 expected. Guests include Governor J Howard McGrath and state officials. Rockwell Reports South America Trip For Rotary Club

Charles B. Rockwell described a 16 000 mile airplane tour of South America at a Rotary Club meeting in Rockwell Hall. He highlighted diverse climates and topographies, praised the Pan American Airways pilots, noted airline plane shortages, and cited Argentina’s vast ranching wealth with a single ranch earning $400 000 annually.

Twilight League Opens Monday In 15th Year

The C. and A. nine face last year’s Twi League champions Ever Readys Monday at 6 15 P M on the Common to start the 1941 season. Town officials participate and mill teams are managed by John Joseph while Harvey Gladue leads the Firemen. Carr Mfe Co is led by Moses Moore and U S Rubber is managed by John Mahon.

Fr Sorzana to Head Italian Socialites Dinner Honorary Committee

Rev Joseph Sorzana accepts invitation to lead the honorary committee for the Italian Socialites Women’s Club annual charity dinner dance. Armstrong Succeeds Brown as Bristol U S Rubber Factory Manager

W A Armstrong promoted from Assistant Factory Manager to Factory Manager at United States Rubber Bristol Plant effective immediately. Ernest G Brown, now Production Manager for Bristol Providence Sandy Hook and Passaic plants, announced the change. Armstrong, a Buffalo native and RPI 1922 graduate, has led manufacturing and now oversees 700 workers in rubber insulated wires and cables.

Gray Again Named Memorial Day Marshal for 9th Year

Vernon A Gray, WWI veteran, will be marshal for the May 30 Memorial Day parade with Edward J Kavanagh as chief of staff. An array of aides including former Senator B W Wall and several generals will support the observance with services May 25 at St Michael's Church and a parade honoring Civil War veterans with ceremonies at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument and North Burial Ground.

Friends Honor Former State Senator at Bachelor Party

About 200 guests from law, the American Legion, and politics gathered at the Colonial Hotel to fete former State Senator Bertram W. Wall before his May wedding. Speakers included Judge Francis B. The Town of Bristol will appeal a Superior Court restraining order blocking tax collection on Knights of Columbus Building Association property. The council also asked Judge Benjamin F.
