The Bristol School Committee voted unanimously to name the new junior senior high school Bristol High School, avoiding the John F Kennedy Jr Sr High School designation. The decision was made in executive session with a brief news release issued this morning.
Grumman Allied Industries razed three Herreshoff Mfg. Co. structures and three Thames St. buildings, clearing land for parking and possible library access. Property owner Salvatore Parella has undisclosed plans. partial benefit may be rear library entrance and parking. The Bristol School Committee's Kennedy name motion is reversed. voters favor Bristol Junior-Senior High School by 604 to 31, with a town meeting to possibly rename. Equal site treatment for the new school and East Shore Highway was urged after a state plan letter cited nearby structures and firms as constraints.
