School Committee Discusses Byfield Building Repairs
Last evening eight members attended the School Committee meeting. Superintendent Reynolds reported crowded schools and $3,000.69 spent so far. Bills totaling $121 were ordered paid, including $12 for a whistle to be used with Byfield Rubber Co. signals. Truancy talk yielded no action. Smith Anthony & Co. of Boston were chosen for heating and ventilating work with two Ne Star boilers to keep rooms at 70 degrees, possible subzero outside, and a new northeast Byfield chimney. Graduation dates for ninth grade and high school were tentatively set with June 29 and June 30. $25 was allotted for high school graduation expenses.
