Mr and Mrs Osterberg's son joins Naval Coast Defense Reserves
Clarence Osterberg, age 75, formerly of Lee Tire and Rubber in Conshohocken Pennsylvania, celebrates his birthday by enlisting in the Fourth District Naval Coast Defense Reserves. He will patrol the Delaware River and Bay and Atlantic coast from Virginia to Barnegat Point New Jersey. About 80 Conshohocken youths enlist, many joining cavalry. Osterberg also met Margaret McLean, a Bristol girl, who has enlisted as a Yeoman in Philadelphia.

The Bristol Red Cross Auxiliary lists donations totaling 86.50 including 4.00 from Miss Mary D Easterbrooks and 1.00 from N. S. A. plus 81.50 previously acknowledged. They acknowledge a 1500 circular gift from the Phoenix urging funds to buy gauze and other materials. Five cents buys a yard of gauze. No gift is too small to help.

The Rhode Island Congregational Conference opens at the First Congregational Church with a 10 o clock start. Rev John E Whitley conducts devotionals as officers are elected and committee reports read. The afternoon features addresses on topics and a 7 30 Lord's Supper service followed by an 8 15 address by Robert Lincoln OBrien editor of the Boston Herald and continues tomorrow with the annual Home Missionary Society meeting and women’s work talks. Dinner is served daily by the church entertainment committee.

The Bristol Improvement Association met at Hotel Belvedere with Judge E L Leahy presiding. The Clean-Up Week Committee reported 1500 multilingual circulars circulated inviting residents to join cleanup efforts. 16 boys volunteered for the Thrift Garden at Walley and Wood streets and $20 was allocated for prizes and plowing. Land on Bristol Neck was noted as available and the Fourth of July celebration should proceed. The building laws committee may seek a town ordinance, and efforts to improve State street foot appearance were discussed.

Epworth League Elects Officers At Annual Meeting
Epworth League of State Street M E Church held its annual meeting last evening. Reports show 125 raised during the year and 91 members with three new entrants. Officers elected include Milton W. Morgan president and several vice presidents, secretary Edith Coggeshall, and treasurer Marion Potter. A bouquet and linen were presented to the president and wife, followed by refreshments and a social hour.
