$500 reward once offered by former proprietor for a catarrh case it would not cure. Remedy claims to cure by mild soothing cleansing and healing properties. Warns against dusty snuffs drying catarrh to lungs. Describes longtime popularity of a quarter century and price 50 cents at druggists.

Public law from January session 1880 transfers control of the Providence Reform School to the State of Rhode Island. Trustees formerly appointed by Providence City Council continue until ordered otherwise. The school’s name becomes State Reform School and sentences will be to the new entity. The governor fills vacancies until General Assembly elections. Effective July 1, 1880.
Chapter 820 adds to Chapter 84 and allows the Town Clerk to call a special town meeting to fill vacancies when a quorum cannot be formed. The act, passed April 16, 1880, takes effect immediately and governs filling officer vacancies by the same method as regular elections.
An 1880 act provides annual three thousand dollars for dictionaries encyclopedias maps globes and related apparatus for state public schools.
