A high school auditorium recital by local soprano Miss Aidan Connery with violinist Mrs Beatrice Ball Battey of Providence. Proceeds support the East Burial Ground Fund. Program features songs by Stimson Goetzl and Zimbalist, plus classic duets and folk tunes.
One or two School Committee members and property owners attended a Providence meeting with Walter Rang er Commissioner of Education Howard Edwards president of Rhode Island College and John L Alger president of Rhode Island College of Education. They discussed data for a report on school site questions. The panel is reviewing the situation and may influence local views on the Gulleras Memorial School site. no submission date is set.
The Court street 13 telephone building approaches readiness with interior wiring and switchboard installation underway. Mechanics lay wire cables and crews prepare the east and north rooms while interior finishing continues. occupancy hoped by June 1 despite possible incomplete status. New granite curbing along Court street from Hope street to the building lot is finished.
Two marble blocks supporting a large bronze ball at the Colt Drive entrance on Hope street were displaced when an auto driven by John Ruggerio collided with the pedestal Saturday afternoon. Ruggerio suffered cuts to his hand and injuries to his leg and shoulder. Gelormo Cadino was cut by glass from the windshield. Both men received treatment from Dr. A. M Merriman and the car was towed to a nearby garage.
A Bach program by Mr Nagle violinist of the Biltmore Hotel Orchestra and Miss R Powers at the Cumberland Lincoln high school project. Elementary pupils will demonstrate Thursday at 7 30 in Reynolds School auditorium. Public invited. Bristol residents urged to support music week.
Antoinette Perry transfers two lots numbered 3 and 8 in block 5 Silver Creek Plat to William W. Perry. Clara E. Gardiner of Providence conveys a house and three lots at Beach Terrace to Katherine L. Dodworth of East Providence.
The annual May Procession at St Marys Church Sunday afternoon drew about 400 parish children. They paraded from St Marys parochial school to the church for the crowning of Our Lady Queen of May followed by a reception to the Infant Jesus Saint Aloysius Holy Angels and Children of Mary sodalities. New members joined various sodalities as officers and designated stars were presented. The event concluded with Rosary recitation and a spiritual instruction from Rev Thomas J Gillan culminating in solemn benediction.
Dog officer Egista Goglia reports his licensed rabbit hound was tied up on a Poppasquash farm for over a week before discovery. A second unlicensed female dog tied nearby was shot after the owner failed to call the town clerk or identify the animal through its tag.
Judge Frank H Hammill ruled on two docketed matters. Hugh F Kelley, chief of police, v Joseph Correa Silva involved a violent assault with a knife on William Francis, a volunteer fireman. the case was continued on payment of costs after Francis declined to prosecute. DeWitt E F Bolster v Genaro Romano concerned a paternity claim. examination was waived, evidence sufficient for conviction, an appeal filed and bond set at $300.
A crowded Bristol gathering at Mrs Edward I Cooper’s High Street home welcomed eight new members. Attendees urged women to register to vote in the upcoming Presidential election while Miss Alice W Bourn read state statutes on town government. Miss M W Wyatt shared early Bristol town governance notes, noting 1681 activities by three selectmen. Mrs E S Cooper presented on government in general across the county.
Principal R. R. Strong announces the class of 1924 valedictorian and salutatorians at Colt Memorial High School. Gladys Brelsford earns first honors with a 92 percent average over the three and four fifths years. Arleen Holm and Theresa Peters tie for second with 89.8 percent.
