Annual Operetta Marianne at Senior High

The Senior Class of the local High School presents the operetta Marianne at the Colt Memorial Auditorium Thursday and Friday evenings. Irene Hardie Mabel Del Piano Marco Calan and a large cast portray Marianne heiress of the Golonda Emerald Mines in Alguara with romance, forged papers and a happy ending. Directed by Mrs Theresa M Donovan with scenery by William Topazio and Colt Band music by the Colt Band.

Goff Leads 19th Knights Ball at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet

Fred T Goff heads the 19th annual Knights of Columbus Ball held last evening with 3000 attendees including state city and town officials. Goff Bristol Council General Chairman and Mrs Goff led the Grand March. State Deputy Donald Murphy and other officers attended along with 60 couples from the town. Norman Vermette chaired the ticket committee and his daughter Jean Marie was a flower girl. Frank Giglio handled special assignments.

General Hall Honored at Soldiers Home Luncheon

Brig Gen Samuel A Hall and Mrs Hall were feted at a Saturday luncheon by Soldiers Home staff residents and State Welfare employees. Hall who served as commandant 1932 35 and assistant commandant 1939 will retire tomorrow.

Safety Awards At U S Rubber Plant Bristol

Six departments at the Bristol Plant of the United States Rubber Company received safety certificates for long periods without a compensable injury. Factory Manager Wesley A Armstrong presented the awards and praised the departments for their accident prevention records based on man-hours and injury-free time. Nicholas Proto, Assembly Department general foreman, reported a three year record of 450000 hours without an accident since November 1944.

Campanella Case Under Advisement

Samuel Campanella who runs a Class A liquor store at 219 Wood Street admitted at a hearing before Acting Liquor Control Administrator James S Dareker that he sold liquor on Sunday in a package store adjoining his market. The case is under advisement as ABC officials inspect the store to determine the connection between liquor and grocery operations before a decision.

Safety Squad to Begin First Aid Courses for Bristol Fire Dept

Members of the Bristol Fire Department Emergency Rescue Squad start an eight to nine week First Aid course at Ever Ready Station tonight at 8. Captain Luke White announced arrangements with Carl Slader of the Providence Chapter American Red Cross. The program will lead to certification as first aiders and instructors.

St Michael's Church approves a policy to rotate vestry membership with no re election until one year after term end.
