Hundreds Re-register as CWA projects move to FERA program

Bristol workers re enroll at the Federal Re Employment Bureau after the switch from CWA to FERA funds. A total payroll of 3238.71 was distributed yesterday for 293 workers on local and state projects, while 60 employees were dropped this month. Local projects like Church street storm sewer and sidewalks on Hope Franklin and Bay View avenues will continue under FERA.

Committee to Purchase Fire Truck Organizes in Bristol

The Bristol Fire Department committee met in the Burnside Memorial building to plan a new engine. Elisha Hibbert was elected chairman and William H Angevine secretary. They will invite four manufacturers to April 6 to present options, with a 1000-gallon combination unit favored by the Board of Fire Engineers and Fire Chief Robert J. Anderson.

The Senior Class defeated the Juniors in a Wednesday afternoon debate in the school auditorium on whether the St Lawrence Waterway should be developed. Troop 5 Bristol Boy Scouts held a surprise party for Scoutmaster Law rence Ashton at the Scout Hall on Hope Street to mark his 22nd birthday anniversary. About 40 persons attended the Ever Ready Engine and Hose Company whist at Thames street station on Wednesday evening.
