Murgo Advocates Dropping Project Discussion Before Vote

Planning Board and Sewer Commission plan a combined Tuesday meeting to advance a proposed sewer line from McKenzie Drive to Perry and Wood streets serving several drives. Dr Bray opposed dropping the plan but urged data gathering on financing with experts from Maguire Associates and the Rhode Island Development Council. Chamber of Commerce and civic groups set Cleanup Week at YMCA 8 p.m. April 28 to May 4.

House To House Red Cross Drive This Sunday

A house to house canvas for Red Cross relief will be held Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. with headquarters at the YMCA. The drive aims for 3500 dollars, chaired by Albert Nutini. More than 30 volunteers are expected, with five sub groups for gifts and divisions led by Frank DeLeo and several vice chairmen and volunteers.

Governor Signs Pond Study For Boat Basin

Gov Dennis J Roberts signed a resolution directing the Division of Harbors and Rivers to study converting Mill Pond's seven acres into a small boat basin. The study due by February 14, 1958, was approved by the House with Sen Gladys M Brightman as sponsor. A Rhode Island delegation led by Mrs Carl W Haffereffer, president of the RI Federation of Garden Clubs, left for the National Council of State Garden Clubs convention in Miami.

Planning Board reviews Mt Hope housing plan by Brown Univ

Preliminary 24 acre Mt Hope housing plan between the Indian museum and White Rock. 15 lots from 53 500 to 69 000 sq ft with seven on shore and eight on road. Presented by Richard F Staples of Tilling hast Collins and Tanner for Brown University. Exemption for faculty tax relief limited to full professors. Board to seek sanitary perculation tests confirmation. Also discussed home rule charter survey material and proposed firemen's memorial site with $1 560 estimate. next meeting set for April 25.

Spar Role in Arctic Trip Outlined in Brooklyn press briefing

Vice Admiral John M Will outlined MSTS Arctic operations at a Brooklyn press conference. The Bristol built Coast Guard Cutter Spar will depart Bristol around May 19 with about 100 ships to resupply over 50 DEW Line radar outposts along North America's northern coast, navigating seasonal ice and seeking an eastern water route.
