Magee attacks state spending and taxes at Bristol meeting

Rep. John R. Magee told over 25 Bristol Women’s Republican Club members that the Quinn administration seeks $25,000 for advertising and that the 1935 budget has grown by 6 million. Cottages Threatened By Grass Fires Near Colt Dive

Cottages owned by Judge Benjamin F Lindemuth and the Narragansett Electric Company on Colt Dive were threatened yesterday afternoon by a grass fire that burned over two acres off Asylum Road. Hydraulion Engine and Hose Company members fought the blaze along Asylum Road to prevent spread into heavy underbrush. While that fire burned, Ever Rear Engine and Hose Company crews tackled a second small patch near Colt Casm and nearby Colt Barn.

Prayer for Doctor Bernardo Shifts Focus to Recovery

Several hundred children gathered at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church on Sunday to pray for the speedy recovery of Dr John R Bernardo who recently underwent an operation to restore his eyesight. The surgery was performed by Dr Ramon Castroverejo, a famed eye specialist, at Vanderbilt Hospital in New York last Thursday.

Passenger Costs Exceed Revenue Says Annual New Haven Report

Bristol Historical Society seeks new permanent quarters

The Bristol Historical Society formed a committee led by Miss Alice B Almy to explore obtaining permanent quarters after repeatedly declining gifts due to storage limits. The plan was discussed at a Friday board meeting at president W. Fred Williams’s Hope Street home. A current year program will be reviewed at the next meeting after Easter.
