Miss Barbara Balzano daughter of Mr and Mrs T Thomas Balzano of High Street and Robert Leahy son of Mr and Mrs J Vincent Leahy Jr of 1176 Hope Street were named Youth Leadership contest winners by the Bristol County Lodge of Elks at the Elks Club. Each received a $25 war bond and automatic eligibility for the state contest. The annual event honors leadership citizenship integrity and scholarship. Joseph H Brelsford chaired the committee with Ralph DeFelice James D Rielly James Mancini and James DaRocha assisting. Brelsford presented the awards. Twenty one men were initiated into the Elks Lodge at ceremonies preceding the presentations.
