Bristol Council Unofficially Allocates 1972 Revenue Sharing Funds

Over $250000 in 1972 revenue sharing funds was unofficially appropriated by Bristol Town Council at a January closed session. Town Administrator Balzano says about $60000 has been spent or committed for items including a new typewriter, police cruiser, street lights, and equipment across departments while awaiting formal public appropriation. He notes all actions had prior council approval and the formal vote will confirm the already agreed distributions to various agencies and projects.

Benjamin Church Home to Become Bristol Senior Center Again

The Benjamin Church Home for Aged Men on Hope St Bristol built in 1909 will reopen as the Bristol Senior Center after renovations funded by the Benjamin Church trustees the Rhode Island Historical Preservation Commission the Bristol Housing Authority and state aging division. The project repurposes the 11.5 acre site once tied to the 1969 Benjamin Church Manor housing complex as a center for elderly programs with a $5 000 matching grant from the National Parks Service.
