Taxpayers Boost Town Budget To 319 549 88 At Meeting
At the annual financial town meeting in the John Post Reynolds School the majority overrode Budget Committee cuts and increased appropriations by 51 550 to a total of 319 549 88 Led by debates over school salaries highway needs and street lighting voters approved funds for a new fire truck and other services while blocking sale of Bradford street property and long term leases The meeting also appointed a purchasing committee and outlined tax and bond actions with various allocations to public aid unemployment relief and endowment funds.

Local Railway Express Office Reports Increased Traffic
The Bristol office of the Railway Express Agency rose into the top tier in February with a 24 percent gain over last year, joining 66 offices in the division spanning Massachusetts Rhode Island Connecticut and Long Island border areas. January and February together show a 26 and 24 percent rise respectively with early March up 35 percent. The Naugatuck Connecticut office led the division in increases.
