At the Bristol town meeting, appropriations rose over last year by 26 845 68, with total levy set between 318 000 and 323 000 dollars. The Budget Committee passed all items except Police and School departments, approving a 1103 increase for police salaries after a dispute.
Bristol Republicans plan an open house dinner and dance after Lent to celebrate their recent election win. The event will invite many Democrats who aided the victory and the organizing committee includes State Rep Ralph T Church former Senator Bertram W Wall Sewer Commissioner Anthony DuPont and other local officials and residents.
District Deputy President Mrs Elizabeth White of Pawtucket will visit Reba Lodge I O O F Thursday night at Odd Fellows Hall High Street. Guests from other Rhode Island units are invited. An entertainment and refreshments are planned by a committee led by Mrs Helen Waite and others.
The Carr Manufacturing Company announced a 10 percent pay raise this morning. Increases were also reported by Collins and Aikman Corporation Best Made Dress Company and Parrigon Toys, boosting wages across multiple facilities.
The Bristol Boy Scout Bugle and Drum Corps opened 1941 with three first prizes at the St Patrick parade in Pawtucket Rhode Island. Norman Rene won junior drum major for the corps. The event occurred at East Pawtucket High School auditorium with private car transport provided by local residents.
Police Chief Anthony J. Ferrara named to the committee arranging a testimonial dinner for James B Linehan now clerk of the Fifth District Court. The dinner on March 30 will be in Gen Henry DeW Hamilton hall Barrington with a large Bristol Democratic delegation expected.

A Bristol England War Relief Fund display in Buffington’s window on Hope Street shows a copy of the Bristol Evening Post from February and features a hostel funded by donor contributions. Miss Florence T. Nelson reports further gifts totaling 4,293.61 to date from Louis H. May and Mrs. D. W. Knowlton among others.
Bristol school department launches a WPA supported lunchroom at Guiteras Junior High to serve hot meals to about 125 pupils, with a ten cent charge and non profit operation funded by government commodities and local purchases. Four women staff the service.
The Olympian Club of the Bristol Y M C A contributed three town officials last week Councilmen John P Marshall and Michael W Pasquarelli and School Committeeman John Andrade plus others. Founder George S Pailthorpe recalls the club’s 20 year history from six boys to a community pillar and hopes for reorganization after a period of dormancy.
Chairman Robert W. Nelson leads Bristol volunteers in the annual Salvation Army emergency fund appeal. He asks new and former donors to join a ten day mail shower to campaign manager J William Wood of the Industrial Trust Company. Ernest Stowe remains official collector in full uniform with credentials.
The First Bristol Troop Boy Scouts honored St Patrick with patrol dramatizations and a snakes banishment lesson. Black Hawks led inter patrol standings with 511 points as they won inspection and tied for game honors with Flying Horses.
