Broken Gas Main Suspected Electrolysis Causes Leak
A gas main on High Street showed a long standing leak beneath Constitution Street. An excavation in front of the Odd Fellows Hall revealed a cut in the pipe, now being joined. Officials attribute the break to electrolysis from Suburban railroad rails, noting electric current can penetrate wet soil and corrode iron pipes.
