Early Sunday a Bristol automobile driven by John J. Napps struck a group walking on Hope street injuring three residents and a Providence soldier. Joseph Gama, 23, suffered an elbow contusion. Josephine Gama, 23, bruised left leg. Marguerite Motta, 20, contusion to right elbow. Sgt. Anthony Rebello, 23, Lac erations head and facial injuries, knee abrasions, calf muscle injury. The group, returning from New Highland Casino, were struck as Rebello was hit by the car’s right fender and toppled the others.

Two Bristol Men Wounded in Action in Belgium
Families learned over the weekend that Pfc. Manuel I. Ferreira and Pvt. Louis A. Bozzario were wounded in action in Belgium. Bozzario, son of Cirol and the late Cirol Bozzario, suffered ruptured eardrums, burned eyelids and face, and impaired hearing after artillery fire. Ferreira, son of Mrs. Mary P. Ferreira, was hit by shrapnel in the chest in Belgium on January 12 and is recovering. he holds the Purple Heart and a Presidential Citation. Both men had served two to four years and previously worked for local employers.
