Zigmund Peret of North Attleboro faces a grand jury today for a rehearing on three counts of passing worthless checks after a technical sentencing flaw. Perez previously served two weeks of a one year sentence and will now be tried on three charges with embezzlement dropped. a prior assault of nine cases was dismissed.

Bristol Women Lead Campaign For Maternal Health Funds

Mrs Carl W Haffenreffer heads the Bristol committee for the Rhode Island Maternal Health Association annual campaign launched yesterday. Bristol workers include Mrs Ernest G Brown Mrs Harleigh Tingley Mrs Melvin Bair Mrs Wesley Armstrong and Mrs Daniel Chase. A tea for workers was held Friday at 88 Cooke Street Providence. Dr Woodbridge E Morris of the Birth Control Federation of America spoke at the Plantations Club luncheon. The campaign runs through March 14.

Bristol Men Face Massachusetts Charge over Pig Theft

Four Bristol and one Fall River man were arrested after 18 pigs were stolen from pens near the Westport Dar mouth line in Massachusetts. Manuel Carvalho, 26, of Bristol and Frank Sousa, 52, of Fall River face larceny charges with sureties set at 300. James Barboza, 27, Joseph Brown, 29, and Joaquim Rodrigues, 54, all of Bristol, face fugitive from justice charges and are to appear before Fifth District Court Judge Waitham O'Donnell Monday morning.

Planning Board to study town owned factory proposal

The Bristol Planning Board would study a town owned factory plan for small industries if initiated by a taxpayers group. The board underscored it is not an Industrial Promotion committee but could study public building plans of town wide importance. A Town Council meeting tonight is expected to consider the proposal amid some opposition and notes that WPA labor is not available for skilled work.

Church Society Seats New Officers

Pamily Furtado was installed as president of the Daughters of Mary Society of St Elizabeth's Church at ceremonies Sunday afternoon in the new parish hall Wood street.
