The Bristol budget panel led by chairman Frank L. Doran completes deliberations on the 1938 budget. The finance board reviews department requests and aims to print the report for taxpayers by week’s end, with distribution around March 10 before the town meeting.
Sunday March 6 designated Go-To-Church Sunday by Protestant churches. Local ministers visit men to secure agreement to attend Sunday services and support resumption of public worship during Lent. A circular letter also urges attendance and endorses the age-old practice.
Two weddings were solemnized in Bristol churches Saturday morning. At Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church Rev Anthony Barnetts officiated at 8 o clock for Miss Rachel F Topazio of 141 Bradford Street and Raymond J Oullette of 19 Plain Street Fall River enlisted man at the C SI Army. Miss Mary Carbone of Barrington and Michael Qoullette, brother of the groom, were attendants. At Elizabeth's Church Rev Henrique Rocha performed the single ring ceremony for Miss Mary Forth of 637 Woodstree and Ennio Alo of 138 Market Street Warren. Mrs Mary Tavares and Jesse Tavares attended. best man was Jesse Tavares.
The Bristol Parent Teachers Association postpones its Thursday meeting due to a district spring recess closing. Queen Lucien Capone, president, announced the new date March 10 and cited the program theme Safety in the Home and on the Highways. Principal speaker H. K. Bennett of Providence will address the gathering.
Battery C 243rd Coast Artillery unit held its annual Federal inspection at the State armory on Church Street. Led by Captain Albert A Moren, the unit was tested in artillery, infantry, chemical warfare, guard mount, riot duty and first aid with officers Commons and Garvin assisting and Federal inspecting officers examining each man and equipment.
The Bristol Italian Socialites Women’s Club starts a week long honorary membership drive aimed at Italian women to gather funds for welfare work. Chairwoman Mrs Ruggiero says active members seek financial support to continue aiding Red Cross Nursing District measures Bristol Children’s Home and other charities.

Hazel B Fero and Lloyd G Manning married in a double ring ceremony at Highlands Congregational Church Melrose Rev John H Leamon officiated The couple hosted a reception at the bride’s home and plan to live at 175 Linden Ave Malden Manning, an electric welder for Boston and Maine R R, was born in Bristol and has lived in Malden for 12 years
The Bristol County Safety Council unit favors reestablishing a police motor patrol across three towns. Officials plan to meet with Police Chief Ferrara this afternoon to discuss the move and the patrols’ role in reducing highway accidents.
Professor Arthur B. Hitchcock will direct Brown University Glee Club in a joint concert with the Bristol Train of Artillery Band on March 8 at Guiteras Memorial Junior High auditorium. The program features 31 voices from the glee club and a 32 piece artillery band under Mrs. M Theresa Donovan.
The World Wide Guild of the First Baptist Church held a home meeting to replenish a missioner in China with clothing. Members donated apparel and planned a mystery ride for March 16. Committee members include Mrs Ruth Campbell and Miss Dorothy Mott.
