Soapbox Derby Eyeing Best Fourth of July Race
Eighteen to twenty midshipman style soapbox cars will race down Bay View Avenue Friday night with no professionals. The winner receives a bicycle and runners up prizes, while all entrants earn a prize. Judges are J Nunes Roger W Pigeon and Paul C Millemaggi. Miserandino chairs the subcommittee and announces prizes on display at Evans store. The first heat starts at 8 p m near Buttonwood and Bay View.

Boy Dies After Polio Battle at Local Hospital
A Bristol boy born April 8, 1948 died last night at Charles V. Chapin Hospital from bul bar polio. He was admitted Saturday prior to his death. Survived by a cane and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Malafronte and great grandmother Mrs. Edward Goulet.
