Independence Day Celebration in Bristol 1899 Program
The Bristol town observes Independence Day with a detailed schedule on the Common and harbor. Notable events include a 6 am salute by artillery, a 10 o’clock parade, a reading of the Declaration, an oration, a baseball game, a bicycle road race, fireworks, and an illuminated boat processional display. The day ends with a waterfront series of patriotic concerts and an extensive evening program. Police enforce sidewalk bicycle riding ordinances, arresting numerous riders and warning others to appear in court for fines.
