The Colt Memorial High School commencement week opens with Class Day exercises in the auditorium. Robert Tourigney delivers the class address, with Mary Velleca reading the class history and Elsie Gilroy co reading the prophecy. A tribute to the late Thomas Brightman precedes the gathering for a banquet and dance.

Rhode Island Garden Clubs Visit Bristol Gardens Tomorrow

Members of the Rhode Island Federation of Garden Clubs will tour four Bristol gardens tomorrow afternoon. First stop is the North Farms garden of Mrs William B MacColl. hostesses include Mrs Ernest C G Brown and others. Public tickets are available at a nominal fee, with sales run by Misses Roberta Dixon Janice Carr and Clara Herreshoff.

Brechin Student John Coggeshall Graduates With Honors

John Coggeshall Brechin son of Mr and Mrs John Brechin Jr graduates with honors from the preparatory school. He served as Literary Editor this year and was chief of the Dial school paper. He received the Weld prize for creative writing for the second time at commencement.

Kerr awarded Gil lan memorial medal at St Marys graduation

Josephine M Kerr valedictorian of St Marys Parochial School was named recipient of the Rev Thomas Jo Gillan memorial medal at Friday night exercises in the church auditorium. Rev J Lawrence Deers presented the medal, and diplomas were given to 24 graduates by Fr Michael J Ryan.

Reverend Herbert D Graetz pastor of the First Congregational Church marries Lena Fern Johnson daughter of Mr and Mrs Theodore F Johnson of Idaho Springs Colorado The ceremony was at the bride’s relatives home in Kansas City Missouri and performed by Rev G Charles Gray The couple plan a reception then a trip to Bristol via Colorado Princeton Indiana and Lake of the Ozarks with a navy white travel outfit noted.

Bristol Clergymen Pair Return to Bristol This August

Rev Mr Graetz native of Princeton Indiana with degrees from Denver Ihff School of Theology and Yale University joins Central City High School faculty in chemistry and English. He is Worshipful Master of St Alban's Lodge and president of Bristol County Association for Clergymen. They will reside at 256 Hope Street upon return the second week in August.

Keep The Men Occupied At Rhode Island Soldiers Home

Lawrence A Mooney, commandant, introduced occupational therapy at the Rhode Island Soldiers Home. Veterans now wash clothes, work on plans with the WPA for a greenhouse, and suggest improvements through a drop box. Planned repairs include cellar work, a rebuilt dairy barn, porch glazing, and removal of Civil War guns from the front lawn.

Eagles Convention backs bill for US Veterans Hospital in Rhode Island

The Rhode Island State Aerie of the Fraternal Order of Eagles closed its two day Bristol convention by unanimously endorsing the Green Forand bill in Congress for a US War Veterans Hospital in Rhode Island. Several thousand Eagles from Rhode Island Massachusetts and Connecticut attended events including a parade banquet and tours. New officers elected included Worochock as president and Stremlau as grand worthy conductor with Perry named deputy grand president.

Rockettes to dance at Paris Exposition festival

Shis and Shat from Here and Shere Shis and Shat from Here and Shere describe the Rockettes 46 member troupe as top entertainers. Edmond Labbe engages them to perform at Paris Exposition international dance festival on July 2 aboard the Isle de France, aiming to match the fame of the Floradora Sextette.

Thin Paris engagement marks brief U S cultural visit

The plan includes a sixteen minute engagement in Paris after which the group may return to the United States aboard the Normandie. Aboard, they will be chaperoned by twelve Frenchwomen chosen by Exposition officials to maintain high American conduct. The program features La Scala Ballet and the Covent Garden Ballet among others with a US tap dance chorus as a distinctive contribution.

Daring American Rockets Dance Troupe Tours France

A 46 member chorus originally formed in St Louis as the Missouri Rockets grew into the American Rockets. They perform a military march, a buck and wing, Midshipmen, and Beguine style routines in France as the first US troupe officially invited abroad. The group varies 18 to 23 years old with brunettes in majority and three redheads.

The Rockettes perform in four to five daily shows and take four days off monthly. Their breaks are spent in distant recreation keeping them in trim for demanding rehearsals.
