Nunes Offers Alternative Democratic Town Committee Slate

Augustine J Nunes announced an alternative slate of 54 names for the Democratic Town Committee to challenge 125 endorses. He received six endorsement votes from 84 committee members and says a primary would let disgruntled voters act. His unendorsed slate includes family members and distant relations as he aims to shrink the committee to 50 to 60 members.

Independent bid shakes up town administrator race

Douglas Gablinske, a current town council vice chair and Democrat, filed as an Independent for town administrator citing party boss influence and a crowded Democratic field. He predicts a dirty primary and says independents have little history winning major town offices. Competitors include Anthony Agatiello Joseph Vento John L Rego Augustine J Nunes incumbent. Frank A Marabello is backed by Republicans.

Travers Hearing Delayed Again Over Superintendent Grievances

The School Committee postpones the next portion of its meeting about grievances against Superintendent Edward P Travers. Chairman Thomas Barr cites illness and absence of several members as reasons and says the session will occur before July 1 with audience comments and a vote on contract terms and possible reprimand.
