Tax Rate Lowered But Payments Will Increase
The town faces a higher real estate tax bill despite a lower rate as new valuations raise the total levy. Bequests from John Winthrop DeWolf include 2000 to St. Michael's Church and 1000 to the Ivy Guild, while Bristol charities receive several gifts. The board's shift to 2.40 per hundred raises real estate taxes for most owners, with 18,000 items needing update in the tax books.
