Firemen Memorial Sunday Parade Details Announced
The parade will start at 1 p.m. from Dreadnaught Fire Station at High and Church. Luke H. White will be chief marshal. Led by the Portuguese Independent Band, it will include the Chief and board of engineers, Hydraulions Dreadnoughts Ever Readys and Defiance, town and state officials, veteran firemen, Ladies Auxiliary, and local apparatus. It will proceed via High Franklin Wood Union Hope to the Firemen Monument. Judge Robert will be principal speaker with Ronald Dailey giving the invocation.

Police Seek Extra Space for City Police Dept
Police Chief Joseph T. Teixeira asked Town Council for a second floor room in the Town Hall annex to ease overcrowding and improve efficiency. Renovations are expected to finish by August, with the storage room formerly used by the Department of Public Welfare to be repurposed for police use. The department's Juvenile Detention room is now used by the Police Clerk and other confidential files.
