The New England Telephone and Telegraph Company filed a revised Rhode Island rate schedule with the Public Utility Administrator. The plan would raise local and toll rates by about 18 percent, offset by toll eliminations within enlarged local service areas across 12 exchanges.

Canon Parshley Resigns to Take New Post

Veteran Dies In County Jail Inmate 52 Found Dead
Thomas F. Martin 52 from the R I Soldiers Home was found dead in Bristol County Jail with a fractured skull. Medical examiner cites epilepsy alcoholism as contributory. Jailer says death occurred between 11 Sunday night and 7 30 yesterday. Funeral arrangements announced with services in Warren and burial in Pawtucket.
