Bristol urged to seek Byfield heirs over school lands

Judge Claude C. Ball told a Rotary Club audience Bristol should approach Nathaniel Byfield heirs to relinquish title to the 1714 bequest known as school lands. He noted the land reverts if no school master is provided for 12 months or income is not used for schools. Ball urged direct negotiation rather than legislative action and warned about messy title research and lack of uniform records across towns. He also endorsed a larger town hall to improve records and cost efficiency.
