The Bristol Garden Club held its second annual floral display at The Lodge Mt Hope with 26 of 31 members entering. Miss Agnes Herreshoff won the top prize for blue salvia and Queen Anne’s lace. Fred Dixon Jr. won first prize in the second group for pastel arrangements. A public show and tea is planned for Sept 14 open to Bristol entries.

C B Rockwell Jr enters his yacht Wild Goose in the Bayside L I race starting at noon. The 220 mile course loops around Block Island from the Bayside Yacht Club. The Bristol Red Cross branch announces annual life saving and swimming classes at the Bath House foot of Burton Street under Red Cross auspices. Gloria II a Herreshoff 124 foot schooner skippered by James B Prench won the Bristol Yacht Club junior series race held in harbor. She finished about half a second ahead of Ashbel T Walls Black Maria as the 1st heat results show a 54 mile course from Bristol Perry to Middle Ground and Pop Polsquash Point buoys.

Tipsy Driver Arrested After Ditch Crash
Ping Dt Lane 18 Kelles Street Warren was arrested after a truck he drove west along Chestnut Street left the road and struck a ditch near Naomi Street. Dr William L Serhst and Dr Ralph J Petrucer declared him unfit to drive. He was jailed in Bristol County on $500 bail and arraigned before Justice Joseph Hamill, pleading not guilty. He is set to appear Monday before Judge Benjamin F Lindemuth in the Fifth District Court.

Subcommittee Backs Employment Stabilization Bill in House
The sub committee of the judiciary committee in Washington reported favorably on the employment stabilization bill and will present it to the full committee. Francis Bo Condon of Central Falls and Mr Tevlin were guests of Bristol Aene for three days and plan to attend the Grand Aerie Convention in Detroit next Sunday. Tevlin said 60,000 new members joined the fraternity in eight months and Rhode Island saw a net gain of 292 last year. Former Bristol Resident John T Robertson Dies in Utica NY
Word reached Bristol of the death of John T Robertson in Utica New York. A former Bristol resident aged 49, he was born to David and Mary Robertson, educated locally, and worked at McCaw’s grocery and Bristol and Warren Water Works. He held posts in the Bristol Train of Artillery and the Bristol Aerie, and was a member of St Alban’s Lodge and St Michael’s Church. He married Gladys Tuttle and moved to Utica about 12 years ago.

Outboard Boat Capsizes in Bristol Harbor
Two unidentified youths nearly drowned when an 18 ft outboard motor boat capsized in Bristol harbor near the Bristol Yacht Club. Capt William Sanford of Pappasquash Road pulled the youths from the water, helped right the boat, and shortened the rope on a rowboat they were towing, after which they continued on.
