Warren Team Beats Bristol in Narragansett League Clash

The Tail-Enders of the Narragansett League defeated Bristol 7 to 5 on the common Saturday afternoon. Fortier led Warren with strong hitting and six long flyouts, while Bliven and Bleven starred for Bristol on base running and defense. Bristol rallied early but Warren secured the lead and held on, with Pierce and St Onge handling pitching duties.

Miss Bertha Wyatt Thrown From Horse in Mt Hope Ride

Miss Bertha Wyatt was thrown from her horse during a Mt Hope ride when the horse shied at two Boy Scout campers. She sustained a dislocation at the left elbow and ligament tears. She received first aid from King Philip camp staff and Dr Harold DeWolf assisted to transport her home and arrange medical X rays.

Eastland Disaster Strikes Chicago River Wharf

The Eastland capsized at a Chicago river wharf on a Saturday morning, killing about 1000 of the around 2500 aboard. Most victims were women and children on the lower decks, with theories debating overload, ballast, tug timing, and crowding as causes. Passengers were Western Electric employees and families bound for Michigan City, Indiana via four chartered steamers.

Bristol Yacht Club Opens Regatta Season With Three Classes

The Bristol Yacht Club held its first regatta of the season on a six mile triangular course in Bristol harbor. Twelve boats competed across three classes Warwick Neck one design 15 foot sloops and a special small boats class with cups awarded to winners and prizes to runners up. Owaissa Arnold Hoff man Barrington won Warwick Neck class Nancy Philip Allen Jr East Greenwich came second and Texema finished third. Olita E Tiffany Conimicut won Class T with Kotick L O Wight man Conimicut second. Clarence Herershoff Nipper won the special class with Bug Rufus E Murray second Toy Wallis E Howe Jr struggling to finish.

Three Italians arraigned after factory fight in city court

Domenico Cambria Giuseppe Cicero and Antonio Buttigliere faced arraignment before Judge Hammill in the Fifth District Court for assault and related charges stemming from a fight at the Nat tional India Rubber Company factory last Thursday. Each pleaded not guilty and the cases were continued for one week.

Palatial motor launch sails from Neponset to Huntington

Roy A. Rainey of New York owns a palatial motor launch designed by Albert S. Chesebrough and built by George Lawley & Son at Neponset. The 91 foot craft speeds 32 mph, with 11 foot beam and 3 foot draft, powered by two 300 hp Sterling eight cylinder motors. She was launched last Friday for trips between Hunt ington L I and New York City.
