Lottery to choose soldiers for France begins in Senate building
In the Senate Office Building last Friday the government started the draft process for France with 10 500 in the glass container. Secretary Baker drew the first number 258 and Senator Chamberlain drew 2522 as the second. The drawing continued through Saturday morning amid emphasis on exemptions and the impact on districts. A list from the Sixth District Bristol area shows 300 names with 165 from Bristol and 135 from other towns, many aliens, and the district quota of 146 to be examined first.
