Matt Brito a 53 year old Bristol businessman and owner of the White Rail Riding Club was thrown into the water when his 22 foot speed boat Lydia V exploded off Prudence Island. He was rescued by Louis Del Papa of Del's Paradise in Lincoln and transported to shore by Coast Guard.
The Auditing Committee will meet at the YMCA at 8 p m Friday to settle finances from the Fourth of July celebration. The panel includes Roswell B Bosworth Jr Dom enic P Perroni and others. They will review bank balances and establish an account for future combined celebrations.
Dr. John O. Squillante of Barrington treated three injured teens after a collision at Hope Street and Poppasquash Road. Police say Joseph Silvia and Robert J Brown were involved. Brown’s car was wrecked. A Prudence Island youth was also treated at Barrington.
Bristol County Medical Society headed by Dr. Charles E. Millard plans a meeting after an automobile crash left three injured without available local doctors. Dr. Antonio F. D Angolo was away for a family death, and a Warren doctor could not be called.
The Bristol Jewish Community Center hosted its sixth annual picnic Sunday at Garcia's Farm on Metacom Avenue. Prizes were won by Anthony Du Pont and Norman J. Vermette. The organizing committee included Max Phenes as chairman, Samuel Osofsky, Joseph Fineberg, Dr. Maynard Shusman and Israel Osofsky.
Final plans for the St Columban’s Seminary bazaar outing next Sunday will be discussed at 8 pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Norman Vermette leads the committee with 6000 expected attendees. activities include Irish dancing and a Portuguese Independent Band.
A 10 year old girl, Mary Anne Sherman, borrowed a tire tube during swimming at Bristol Narrows shore. The tube drifted out, she panicked and went under twice before Mrs. Beverly Bisbane and uncle William Hatcher pulled her ashore and revived the girl. She recovered and went home.
YMCA secretary Albert F. Means urged Bristol parents to file boys’ camp applications this week. With room for 25 and 18 already in, late entries may miss the camp. The Wil liam Rego estate site near Hopeworth will host sessions from August 4 to 29, directed by Joseph Securo with assistant Charles Mansi.
Town Solicitor Lucien Capone urged immediate submission of all claims after the July 4 fireworks. Joseph Mello Jr. reported $125 damage to his 1951 Mercury, with another Mello family car similarly affected. Capone demanded quick resolution and immediate reporting near the Town Shed.
Bristol County Water Company warns of unprecedented four week water depletion totaling 107 million gallons driven by lawn irrigation and high evaporation. Residents may water only on Wednesdays Fridays and Sundays, with Mondays declared no-sprinkling day to protect reserves and avoid further shortages.
Bristol Yacht Club schedules a buffet supper on August 7 at the club house with ham and potato salad prepared by Mrs. Joseph Lewis. A clambake on August 17 will be at Mrs. Arthur Carrs Fish Hawk Farm, prepared by Bakemaster Trainer. Mrs. O Reid LeClair leads with assistants Mrs. James B. French Jr. Junior helpers include Lola Serbst Doris Bertram and Shirley Olson.
