Scrapping of the Bristol racing schooner RAMALLAH ends a long era
The RAMALLAH, a Bristol familiar racing schooner built in 1907 by Herreshoff and designed by N G Herreshoff, will be scrapped. Originally ISTALENA and later TROLITA, she carried multiple names and a steel frame with wood planking. Owned by R H Ives Goddard of Providence, she sailed mostly from Bristol with rare wartime gaps and last year’s decision to scrap for sentimental reasons.
