Rotary Entertains Lady Guests With Magic Show

The Rotary Club luncheon featured ladies who aided the Food Station plus Prof. William Williston Bristol magician extraordinary. The program included singing, a brief business session, and plans announced for the annual outing next Wednesday.

Union Services At First Congregational Church

The First Baptist State Street Methodist and Congregational Churches hold union services at the Porst Congregational Church. Herbert Graety will preach on Trees with a poem by Lovey Kolmers and Bosworth-Bari tone to sing the solo Trees.

Second BTA Baird Concert Set Sunday Evening

The Bristol Train of Artillery Band led by Mrs. M Theresa Donovan plans an open air concert Sunday at 8 15 pm in front of Colt Memorial High School with amplified sound and greater seating to accommodate a larger crowd. Soloist James C Ruggiero performs Polka Militaire and Miss Minnie Gogha will sing the national anthem. Col A M Merriman leads the event amid traffic control and rain postponement if needed.

Memorial window for Victor I Miller and his mother to be dedicated at Sunday service. Island plans include summer entertainment and a sacred concert by the Cosmopolitan band with a silver offering to cover expenses.

Battery C Ships Out For 5 Day Annual Tour Of Duty

Battery C 243rd Coast Artillery leaves tomorrow with 56 enlisted men and 3 officers for a five day tour at Fort Wright New London Fisher s Island. Commanded by Capt A A Moren with Lieuts Garvin Randell, the unit assembles at 7 am at the armory and boards buses at Church Street for Union Station Providence where they entrain with Battery I and Battery F joining at East Greenwich and Westerly. They will travel by government boats to Fisher s Island and enjoy a structured sports program arranged by Major John A Toohes with visitors Sunday July 24 and an army maneuver program birthing among veteran soldiers and rookies alike. The battery includes Charley Burdge and Leo Sevigney among notable players.

Feast of Mount Carmel Observed by Italian Colony

The Italian citizens of the town will observe the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel tomorrow with religious services a band concert and boxing exhibitions. Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church will open the day with Rev Fr Joseph Sargana as celebrant. Boxing bouts at 6 30 p m include Soldier Frank of Bristol versus Tony Costa of New Bedford and local youths facing New Bedford opponents. The Boys' Community Band directed by Ferdinand Kasiello will close the observance with a concert on Bristol Common.

Will conduct dance for St Rita’s Club anniversary

The 12th anniversary dance of St Rita's Club of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church is held tonight in the Parish Hall on Congregational Street. Vernie Munro and his orchestra will provide music for general dancing. Mary Turillo chairs the arrangements with Bridget Nastri, Margaret Proto, Antonette Ruggieri, Frances Arico, and Mrs Vasta La Ruggiero as assistants.

Bristol Council Knights of Columbus Plan Annual Outing

Plans for the annual outing and clambake of Bristol Council No. 379 Knights of Columbus were set at a Wednesday meeting on State Street. John G. DesLauriers was named committee chairman to organize the event and annual financial reports were received and filed.

Boy Injured Jumping From Moving Truck During Ride

A 19 year old boy rode on the back of a moving truck with two others near Bas View and Metacom avenues. He jumped off at the Soldiers Home entrance and was found injured on the curb. The truck owner and drivers faced no knowledge of the ride, and a hit and run driver was pursued before returning to the scene. The injured youth received care at the Soldiers Home infirmary.

Ivy Guild Preliminaries Plan Annual Supper and Sale

Members of the Ivy Guild of St Michael’s Church met Tuesday evening at Holmes House to outline plans for the annual supper and sale.
