The text details steps to appeal to the Attorney General to secure city vested rights, notes Bristol attorney General efforts, and praises Edward I Thompson who turned seventy eight. Thompson, a longtime Hydraulion Engine and Hose Company member since 1843, received a Morris chair from the company during a birthday gathering at his Hope Street home with many relatives present. The scene portrays his decades of service, his Rhode Island record as possibly the oldest active fireman, and the company’s tribute as a sign of respect from fellow firefighters.
