Bristol Observes 140th Independence Day Parade Militia
Bristol marked its 140th Fourth with a morning parade featuring the U. S. S. Kansas Marines and band plus Coast Artillery Rhode Island National Guard and civic groups. Rain delayed events but ball games, motion pictures, and a band concert proceeded. no major incidents or arrests reported. The procession included police, military units, Boy Scouts, firemen and civic organizations with dozens of officials and veterans.

Fourth of July Parade and Races at Town Hall
A July celebration featured a large parade route through town with officials and guests aboard automobiles. Events included a 5 mile handicap race won by Ted Crook with prizes, sprint dashes for men and boys, a half mile for men and boys, and a series of athletic events on Hope street plus a baseball game and band concert. Afternoon program offered several musical selections and an intermission before more pieces.
