Death by Own Action in Warren Ends Life at 22

John J. Culkin, 22, well known in Warren, died Sunday evening at his home after taking about forty grains of strychnine obtained from a drug store, apparently without the proprietor's knowledge. He told his mother he would die soon, physicians could not save him, and he lived about a half hour after revealing the act. Culkin worked as a laundry team driver and had visited the town several times weekly. Several unrelated court notes and town nuisance cases involving Patrick Hammill were also reported, with continuances and bonds set for next Monday.
