Ever Ready Company Holds Annual Banquet

The 21st annual Ever Ready Engine and Hose Company banquet drew a large crowd at the company hall. Bertram W. Wall acted as toast master and retired captain Anthony Perry received a past captain's badge and lamp as tributes. The event included a silent memorial for members who died in the war and afterward.

Local Youth Hurt in Morning Collision near Colt Drive

Earl Maxmein 21 of 178 High Street sustained two deep forehead lacerations and a knee abrasion after his head struck a car windshield in a crash near Colt Drive. He received three stitches from Dr. William L. Serbst. Operator Reynold Borges 20 and three passengers were uninjured. Police Capt. Baker and officers investigated.

Librarian Esther Osterberg reports 1945 saw 29 398 books issued at Rogers Free Library with 399 new titles added. 2159 town residents hold borrowing cards, up 10 percent, as war service returns boost circulation.
